Parque de la Reserva stands green beyond the confines of downtown Lima. Many of the passers-by who pass by there daily do not imagine the history that is hidden behind its benches and trees.
To learn a little about the origins of the Parque de la Reserva, we would have to go back to the history of Peru. Some passages are disconsolate, since its foundations were stained with pain and blood, due to the War of the Pacific that confronted Peru and Chile on Peruvian soil, between 1879 and 1884. However, its construction served to remember a group of heroes who sacrificed themselves for their nation: Peruvians who gave their lives for their country. In honor of them this iconic park in Lima is built.
